The Owner

Hi my name is Donald Sanderson Jr and I was born and raised right here in Houston Texas USA! I installed my first garage floor 21 years ago (in 2003) but I'm still excited about garage floors! I fell in love with epoxy while being taught the science of resinous two part cast molds in my 8th grade shop class while at Bleyl Junior High School in Northwest Houston in the year 1996. While the other 8th grade kids were making wooden pens on a lathe, and go-karts, I chose to make molds out of two part epoxy, it was love at first mold! 8 years later in 2003 I finally got that opportunity to mold epoxy onto a garage floor. I had been dreaming of this day ever since Junior High School. The Home Depot had just begun to sell garage flooring box kits and a friend of mine who owned a dry cleaners on Louetta Road in NW Houston paid me to install his floor at work with a Rustoleum Garage Flooring box kit.

My first floor in 2003 was a huge success! His customers loved his new floors so much that they soon began to ask me (the cashier) who installed the new floors. I told them that the owner let me do it and then people soon began to ask for my phone number! I struck dozens of deals because of that floors location! So after building some experience on several garage floors and acquiring the technique of throwing the chips into the floor in a uniform manner I stuck a sign on the side of Louetta Road in NW Houston that said Garage Floors with my phone number on it, and I was in business!  At first it was just a side gig that I did on the weekends but after 7 Years I was getting so many requests that I decided to quit my day job and focus on garage floors so in 2010 I went to the Harris County Courthouse and registered my new business name, I had decided on: Houston Garage Floors!

Eventually we moved up to Sherwin Williams commercial grade floor coatings (the very best) and then we perfected and "packaged" the garage floor after years of hands on experience! Read my FREE 8 Page Book to see how and why we moved from the epoxy sold at The Home Depot to the Industrial Epoxy and Polyaspartic Urethanes we now use!

"We didn't invent the garage floor, we just packaged it!"

Let me tell you what to expect when you choose Houston Garage Floors:

  1. First of all: love bugs. That's right, love bugs are naturally attracted to the smell of floor coatings and will be observing our work from above. They are of no harm, the nature of these coatings attracts those sort of things. When you call or email you will speak to my mother Patty (we are a family business) she handles the contract, deposit, and scheduling so that I can supervise the installations.

  2. The first thing that we will do on the morning of the installation is text you to let you know our ETA. When we arrive we will then tape the door seal to your house shut from the inside of the garage to mitigate the smell of the coatings, so please lock the door that enters your home from the inside of your garage because we will never ask to enter your home, we always take restroom brakes at the local gas station and we always bring our own water to drink. Our goal is to not be a bother you, in fact most of our customers go to work and just leave the garage door open for us and then come home from work to meet us and their new garage floor! After we tape the edges of your lower walls, cabinets, and/or baseboards we will start the grinding process followed by the application. We will text you when we are finishing that day or the next. Our polyaspartic (chip floors) can be walked on in 2 hours and full cure is 12 hours, so you can literally drive on it the next morning!

Thank YOU Houston!

Cy-Creek Class of 2000

I Graduated from Cypress Creek High School

in the Class of 2000

Tomball College VP of Campus Crusade for Christ

I went to Tomball College and was the Vice President of Campus Crusade for Christ for my College Class.

Fresh out of Highshool I tried working at vaious jobs to figure out what I wanted in life while I was taking a few college classes. I got the most enjoyment out of taking on small home repairs and handyman contract work.

College of Biblical Studies

Another year of secular scool was enough, it was like Grade School all over again for me. If I was going to learn something new then I wanted to fill my brain with the Bible because I had just put my faith in Jesus Christ for His payment for my sins on the cross. I was reading the bible and going to bible studies as often as I could. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and I tranfered to The College of Biblical Studies In South Houston off of 59 and the Beltway 8.

I was only going to college part time so I worked on learning different trades to figure out what I was good at, what made money and and what I liked. I tried lots of different business ideas; if it didn't work then I dropped the idea and tried a new one. I a couple years outside of High School but I was still excited about life and the freedom that came with being outside of the classroom.

Installed my First Garage Floor

I installed my first garage floor with a box kit of Rustoleum Epoxy Shield from The Home Depot for a friend who owned a dry cleaners in NW Houston. Fortunately for me the floors were in the entrance so everyone could see them and people even asked for my phone number and for pricing while i did the install which spring boarded my business quickly. One year later I was getting so many requests for garage flooring that I created a business name "Epoxy Pro."  I wasn't getting enough work to be fulltime, it was just weekend and summertime work but I wanted to specialize in it and look professional so I got the business name to establish myself.

Went to Iraq!

I went to Iraq 3 times during the war to help them as a civilian contractor so that they could focus on more important things like getting the bad guys! It was fun going over there and would love to do it again. I was a Project Controls Cost Specialista aka Cost Engineer for Halliburton/KBR, which means I took all the invoices, subcontract agreements, time sheets, and categorized them with a code and put them all on a weekly cost report that went to the Boss, The time sheets kept on coming in so we worked 9am to 10pm 7days a week, with no days off until our 2 week vacation every four months, so I signed a lot of time sheets! LOL!  But seriously, it was fun, sometimes a little scary though because of the regular bombing that occured as they got closer and closer to our work trailer in the middle of no where, You could drive around the base and see how the bomb landing marks were working themselves closer and  closer to our work trailers. When it was obvious they were zerowing us in we got T-Walls installed quickly that evening. The US Military took great care of us and did a great job protecting the civilians at the Airports where I also worked at.

Rebuilt the Ashrgove Cement Plant

After returning home from the Iraq War Cost Reporting  I went to Foreman Arkansas to help rebuild the GIANT Ashgrove Cement Plant with PCL Industrial Contruction. I wanted to learn more about Cement since I was planning on installing garage flooring for a life so it was a great opportuniy to learn and make some money at the same time. I lived in New Boston Texas and drove the short 30 mile distance  across the rive into Forman Arkansas daily. On the weekends I installed Garage Floors when I had the opportunity.

I returned to Houston and decided to turn my garage flooring side gig into a FULL TIME Business called Houston Garage Floors
