Polyaspartic Compared to Epoxy

We install Polyaspartic (a type of urethane) coating instead of epoxy because it is superior to epoxy in strength, adhesion, flexibility, UV stability (non-yellowing), speed (dry time is 2 hours) and resilience (they wear down 3x slower). As you can see in the product data sheet above polyaspartic has over 6,000 pounds of stregnth vs epoxys 3,000. The adhesion strength is also 125 pounds greater.

What is Polyaspartic made of? It is a type of polyurea that has undergone changes to make it UV stable and stronger. It is true that polyaspartic is a is type of polyurea, but not all polyureas are polyaspartics. Polyaspartics are far superior than regular polyureas. Just like Corvette is a type of Chevrolet, Polyasprtic is a type of Polyurea. Polyurea that is not a polyaspartic is cheap, weak, and will yellow unlike polyaspartic. So make sure you don't get confused by the two. Many people sell polyurea because it is cheap. If you want to remember which one is better just think of Spartica like in the movie Gladiator: Poly-a-spartic.

Polyasartic has 'give' 'resilience' or 'flexibility' so that when impacts hit it, it 'gives' and then returns to its normal position opposed to epoxy which can not flex and therefore cracks under pressure. Resilience is the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape. Epoxy has no resilience, it is brittle and it cracks under pressure. This is why polyaspartic wears 3X longer. It is also resistant to staining unlike epoxy becuase it is relatively non-porous. Epoxy is very porous and stains easily. Polyaspartic also dries much faster than epoxy; in only 2 hours it is ready for foot traffic and in 12 hours it is ready to drive and park you car on it! That means you won't have all your stuff sitting outside for 5 days like with epoxy floors. Polyaspartic is Better, Faster & Stronger!

Polyaspartic vs epoxy had been a big debate for some time until recently when polyaspartic was manufactured in a way to yield an adhesion strength greater than that of epoxy.

Epoxy is a two-part resin that is mixed together and then applied to the floor. It dries hard but unfortunately too hard as it becomes brittle and cracks or shatters when placed over moving cracks as the epoxy is unable to stretch like polyaspartic urethane does. Epoxy is also more porous than urethane and therfore easier to stain. What is
polyaspartic coating? Polyaspartic is also a two-part resin that is applied to the floor and then dries hard with a little bit of flexibility. It is more durable because it is resilient (slightly flexible) and easier to clean since it is non-porous unlike epoxy. Plus polyaspasrtic urethane is UV stable so it will not yellow like epoxy or polyurea urethane. Polyaspartic Urethane is the best available product for floor coatings. It is literally twice as strong as epoxy and sticks much better. Plus it will dry fast enough to resume full use in 12 hours unlike epoxy which requires 2 days to install and 3 more days to cure. Once we install your heavy chip premium polyaspartic urethane package that is $2,895 for 2 car garages up to 400 sq ft, you will be able to drive on your floor in 12 hours guaranteed! Plus we guarantee a 1 day installation on normal garages up to 2 car (400 sq ft) in size. See details. Our experts will answer every question you might have regarding epoxy vs urethane.
